The Color Purple

So... teaching at a high school can get pretty interesting. I will admit, there is never a dull moment. But sometimes even the teachers up the ante to make it even more fun.

Case in point: The Purple Competition

Another teacher & I absolutely love the color purple for clothes-wearing. Well, and accessories. (Noting in my head... purple purse, purple shoes, purple necklaces, even a purple blackberry. A phone's an accessory, right?)

So, we decided to do a competition, a Purple-Off. To see who could wear the most purple outfits in a row without repeating a shirt or bottom. The only rule - no purchasing new purple clothes.

What was at stake? A $20 gift card to the winner's favorite clothing store. And it must be used to buy another purple piece of clothing.

It took a few days for the kids to catch on, but they got really into it once they did. "How many more purple shirts do you have??" " You can borrow one of my purple shirts!" (Thanks, but no thanks.)

I ended up lasting 2 full weeks before throwing in the towel. I ran out of clothes after day 7 and then was left to scrounge my Business Man's closet & got some clothes from one of my friends. It still wasn't enough. My competitor has a serious purple clothes addiction! No joke.

Here was the line-up. (And remember, I am not a fashion blogger. At all.)

Probably my favorite outfit of the two weeks.

Getting a little sick of purple by this point.

This one was a stretch- purple stripes on the tank. My competition let it slide.

My Business Man's shirt. I thought I pulled this one off pretty well.

Are we done yet?? I'm so sick of purple!

Day 10.
So yes, I lost. I admit defeat. To be honest, I still had a couple more purple shirts from my friend but I am so over purple. I knew I wouldn't have had enough to outlast my competition. But it was fun for a few weeks. ;-)

In other news, my Business Man & I are heading to VEGAS this weekend! He's got a work conference and I get to tag along free of charge.  What are the must-see sites? Where should we eat at?

Hope everyone's weeks are off to a good start!

All of your outfits are so adorable! Maybe you should be a fashion blogger! Even the Business Man's shirt, whew smokin'!

Yay Vegas! I have no idea where you should go. I remember loving the fountains at the Belagio. I also ate at The Cheesecake Factory for the first time in Vegas. But, I'm sure you'll want to go somewhere more unique to Vegas. Have fun!
Woah... that is a lot of purple...

But you sure rocked the outfits!!! You make purple look hot!!! Your favorite was my favorite, too... and the second one. So cute!

Dude... I don't know much about Vegas... they have an In n' Out and I pretty much die over their burgers, fries, and especially chocolate shakes! MMMmmm...

Have Fun!!!

In my experience, many people on the Paleo can't eat. So, in the which is the main organ which is affected the most of the food supply, reducing the potential fat content of meat from chicken, pork and beef. Overall, you simply won't find a better display on a phone, and the presumed sequel to the

Hot Off the Press... [Chicken Bacon Bleu Panini]

So I totally forgot to post a panini recipe last Thursday... whoops. I'm sure you were all waiting with bated breath and were very  disappointed. Well, never fear, because I've got a fabulous panini recipe tonight! Tangy bleu cheese and salty bacon come together to form a delectable sandwich. It comes from the panini cookbook I received for Christmas, 200 Best Panini Recipes  (thanks Mom!) . The  Chicken Bacon Bleu panini :   grilled chicken, crisp bacon, and bleu cheese on sourdough with a spread of barbecue sauce and sliced red onion. I had never thought of putting bleu cheese on a panini before I saw this recipe. I feared there wouldn't be enough ooey gooey cheese! But bleu cheese actually melts pretty nicely. It's no Velveeta, but it added a great tang to the sandwich.  First, spread the bottom piece of bread with a bit of barbecue sauce, and top with some grilled chicken. I actually used my panini press to grill my chicken for the first time, and it wa

The Arrival of Something New...

Woo hoo for the last Friday of the school year! And only one more day of school next week. (And then a couple teacher workshops...) Another reason to be excited? Our fridge came today!! Isn't she a beauty? It is so nice to have a fridge again. You don't realize how much you miss a full-size refrigerator until you go a couple weeks without it. A bit bare... but that can be solved easily. Bottom-drawer freezer, containing the essentials: moose tracks & Diet Dew trying to get cold asap. Anyways, I'm just popping in to share my beautiful new appliance. The baking monster has taken over, and I'm in the midst of making 150 cupcakes for a graduation party tomorrow.  First big baking project in the new kitchen! I'm loving all the counter space. Mmm... chocolate buttercream! Making good use of the baking nook! :) Adios!

Boston Marathon, week #3

Last week was a great week for training - lots of easy runs, a V02-max workout, and my first long run that actually felt 'long'.  The goal was to get in 50-55 miles, and I ended up with 56ish, so right on target. Saturday's long run was glorious ! Temps in the 50's in January (!) makes me a very happy runner. I headed out for 16-17 miles and ended up with almost 18. And I remembered to bring fuel!  I tried out the blueberry-pomegranate Gu chomps, and they weren't my favorite. I ate one every 2 miles once I hit the 8-mile mark and they left a strange aftertaste. Pretty much as soon as the aftertaste went away, it would be time to eat one again. I'm thinking I will try something else next time.  This was the week of the 8's... what a monotonous bar graph. I'll try better next week to make it a little more exciting. Weekly Rundown 1.7.2013-1.13.2013 Mon - 8.2 miles easy Tues - 8.3 miles easy Wed - 4x1200m @ 4:29 (4:32, 4:31, 4:31, 4:34);
