Quesa-Grillas?

Ehhh... I know. Lame title. But we grilled quesadillas ! Which then makes it a quesa-grilla! Ever since we got our new grill, I've been super excited to grill some non-traditional foods. Fruit, romaine, and pizza are all on the "must-try" list. Last night we thought we'd try our hands at grilled quesadillas. I found a recipe for S teak Teriyaki Quesadillas in the latest Taste of Home magazine and went with it. The steak is marinated in a teriyaki style marinade, then grilled to perfection. It's then sliced and combined with chopped green pepper, red onion, and fresh pineapple.  Then stacked onto a tortilla and topped with mozzarella cheese! (And some bacon because we had some in the fridge... mwa ha ha...) Then, it's just returned to the grill for a few minutes to melt the cheese. Oh, and get those beeeautiful grill marks. Sweet from the teriyaki, smoky from the steak, crisp on the outside, gooey cheese on the inside...

48 Hours Later...

In just 48 hours, lots of work has been done. Most of it not done by me. But I try! Stairs... (right when you walk in the front door.) We discovered there was hardwood under the foyer, staircase, upstairs hallway, and butler's pantry/breakfast nook. Upstairs hallway.  You know what that meant? 928,301,292,746 more staples and tacks to pull up. I'm so thankful for my hard-working daddy and my Business Man's brother who is helping us out this week. They're awesome, pulling 14-hour days. I'm a wimp, and admit defeat after just a few hours. This afternoon, I learned how awesome Krudkutter is.  Long, long ago, in the guest bedroom, little droplets of paint somehow got all over the floor. The beautiful hardwood floor.  So today, I got to use Krudkutter to scrape it all up. I think that was almost more fun than pulling up staples! ;-) The previously paint-splattered guest bedroom. It has since been painted as well. Note to self : Never ...

Firin' Up the Grill

Temps in the 80s today.... what what?!? I absolutely looooved it. I actually spent 2 hours laying outside, reading a book, and working on my tan absorbing some quality vitamin D. It was the best afternoon ever! Tonight was not the first time we've broken out the grill this spring, but it was the first night we grilled something exciting . So far we've just grilled chicken. Not that boneless chicken breasts can't be exciting with a little BBQ rub... actually no. That's not exciting at all. But this dinner was. Tonight it was all about the beef . (It's what's for dinner.)  We made  Hawaiian Beef Sliders . My Business Man and I discovered this slider recipe last summer after we bought our baby grill. I've never been to Hawaii, so I don't know if these burgers taste anything like burgers in Hawaii, but I do know one thing: These. Are. So. Good. And because they are sliders you get to eat more than one and not feel like a little piggy. So...
