Day 9: Cinnamon Roll Cookies

One of my Business Man's ultimate comfort foods is a freshly baked cinnamon roll, slathered with frosting. (And it just might be one of mine, too.)  So when I saw these cookies pop up on Pinterest, I knew I had to try them. For the sake of my Business Man, ya know. Besides being utterly cute, these cookies are fantastic. Pretty much like a cinnamon roll in cookie form. Slightly chewy in the center, crisp on the outside. Perfectly cinnamon-y. They're prepared in the traditional cinnamon roll way - roll out the dough, layer on the butter & cinnamon-sugar, roll up tight, and then slice. Just as fun as cinnamon rolls, but no scary yeast to work with. I took some in for my first period class this morning, and one of my kids claimed, "They taste just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch!" And come to think of it, they do. (And Cinnamon Toast Crunch rocks! Definitely my favorite cereal as a child. And teenager, heh.) And just because it has 'cookie...

Pumpkin Thursday, woo hoo!

I really need to come up with a good name for this series of pumpkin recipes. Last week I called it "Pumpkin Power Thursday"... so lame. This week, just "Pumpkin Thursday." Where oh where are all my creative juices? There's just no good descriptive word that starts with a P! Precious pumpkin? Pitiful pumpkin? Plentiful pumpkin? If you can thing of anything, help a girl out. Anyways, this week's pumpkin recipe is a wonderful breakfast recipe. It just so happens that tomorrow is my "donut day" for the year at work. Every Friday, one of the teachers brings in donuts/bagels/some sort of breakfast for everyone to enjoy. Makes Friday a little extra special. (Aside from the fact that it's the last day before 2 entire days of freedom from whining teenagers! But I do love those kids, I really do.) Night time pictures = no natural lighting! Boo for dark pictures. Since I've had pumpkin on the brain, I thought I'd do some pumpkin baking f...

Cappuccino Cinnamon Rolls

Earlier this week , I posted a few pictures of some cinnamon rolls. Some Cappuccino Cinnamon Rolls to be exact. I've been on a kick with sweet breakfast recipes lately, but I'm not complaining. Either is my Business Man. Except that he didn't get any of these cinnamon rolls. Whoops. And cinnamon rolls are his favorite. (Bad wife award.) Anyways, my friend Alissa loves to bake. She does not have an oven at her apartment in South Korea, where she is living and teaching currently. So when she was back in the States for two weeks, and we got together, you betcha we had to bake! And we wanted to make something for breakfast, so we could enjoy it after our beautiful run. So we made Cappuccino Cinnamon Rolls. We've made these before, three times, and they always come out beautifully. The coffee flavor is very slight, not too overwhelming at all. They're soft and sweet and gooey and everything a cinnamon roll should be. The cappuccino-flavor...

Day 12: Snickerdoodles!

My, my, it's been a long day. Snow has hit the Midwest hard, and of course it had to happen on the day I had to drive back to the Bean Town. Stay tuned for the recipe! I left pretty early this morning, to try to stay ahead of the storm. The worst part of the drive was not the snow falling, but the wind! The wind was blowing the snow so much that I could hardly see at some points. However, I arrived safely, and it actually didn't take much longer than the usual drive.  I indulged in my first peppermint mocha of the season today on my drive. In a red Starbucks Christmas cup and all! It was so tasty. Mine didn't quite look like this, but you get the idea. Anyways, when I got back to the Bean Town, I ran a couple errands, cooked dinner, and helped my Business Man at the office for awhile. I was not in the mood to bake an extensive and elaborate cookie, so I went for the simple classic Snickerdoodle. These cookies remind me of Christmas, because of the ci...
