Happy New Year! My Business Man and I have had the most relaxing day ever, church and then lots of couch time with season 2 of Modern Family. And fresh-baked cinnamon-raisin bread. I think we're both in a carb coma.
We had a great time ringing in 2012 last night at a friend's house, sparkling grape juice and all. Of course, I had to bake for the occasion. [insert more carbs]
I received a new cupcake gadget for Christmas - a cupcake corer. (Say that five times fast.)
It's specially designed to remove the center of cupcakes so you can stuff them with whatever filling your heart desires. And yesterday, my heart desired raspberry filling. Too bad raspberries are so darn expensive in the middle of winter. But it was New Year's Eve, totally worth the $6 and special trip to Sam's.
This little tool was so fun! You just twist it into the cupcake and remove it, and it takes a little chunk of cake out. Perfect for placing directly in your mouth. Not that it happened like that... not at all.
I made these Double Chocolate Raspberry Cupcakes from Annie's Eats. I loved the filling and topping (what's not to love about chocolate ganache?)... but the cake part wasn't my favorite. It was still good, but I like these Chocolate Guinness Stout Cupcakes better.
Chocolate & raspberry, what's not to love?

And now introducing in 2012...
If you look up top, I've got a new page - Recipage. It's a great recipe organization program that organizes a blogger's recipes by course, occasion, key ingredient, cooking method, and more. Even better, it's still embedded within the blog!
It formats the recipes beautifully with pictures, and has options to print, email, and text recipes as well. (No more printing 6 pages of blog posts just to get one recipe!)
For example, I typed "cupcake" in the search bar - it brought up all my cupcake recipes, with a picture. You can easily click to any of them to get straight to the recipe, no need to dig through old blog posts. Unless you want to read my ramblings about whatever was going on in life when I posted the recipe, hehe.
I just absolutely love it! Now if only I will remember to continue updating it as I add recipes... pretty sure that won't be a problem because typing in the 99 recipes I already had on the blog was a bit tedious. Don't really want to do that again.
So, if you're feeling bored, take a few minutes to browse around the new Recipage! I've featured a few of my winter favorites at the top of the Recipage and on the sidebar of the blog.
With that, my friends, I am out... Modern Family is calling me! Happy 2012!
We just received a bread machine for a wedding gift that had some major shipping confusion... I don't know quite how many places around the country this bread machine has been, but I'm happy it's here in the Bean Town now! We pretty much housed that whole loaf. I was talking on the phone to my mom as it was baking, and she asked what we were having for dinner, and I replied "BREAD." And she totally understood. Like mother, like daughter, carb-aholics unite!

You can even "Pin it"! I am just amazed by technology these days. |
