Return to Running

Well, here I am over 11 weeks postpartum. How have 11 weeks gone by already!? But yet, it feels like we've had James forever, like I can't even remember life without him. But I'm RUNNING AGAIN!!! If you read any of my blog posts from the last few months of pregnancy, you might remember that I had back pain. A LOT of back pain. SI joint pain, to be exact. (God bless you for listening to me complain about that stupid back pain over and over again each week.) One of my big fears was that the pain wouldn't go away after delivery... I had read online where it took some women up to 4 months to get rid of that particular type of pain! So I assumed it would be like that. But, less than 12 hours after giving birth, I can say the back pain was GONE! Amazing. It was the best day of my life... not only did I get to meet my sweet boy, but my back pain went away! Haha. (It was really that bad.) I was a little nervous to start running again, because it had been a good solid 4 ...

life lately [January 2015]

So, this whole blogging thing has been pretty non-existent since the beginning of December. I guess that's what life with a newborn and getting back into a regular routine does to ya! (BTW... is he still considered a newborn? When do they *officially* graduate from newborn to just a regular baby?!) 1 month vs. 2 months We kept the first week of January pretty low key... I was completely ZONKED after the holiday season so it was really nice to take a break. (I think I went a total of 8 days without baking a single cupcake. Might be a record!) I started the business back up January 10 with full-time hours and availability, and man it has been busy! Definitely a good thing. We've got a pretty good routine going with James and the cupcakes. Mondays are usually my errand days... so he gets to tag along. Meijer, bank, GFS, Hobby Lobby. I haven't quite mastered the art of doing a Sam's Club run with James in tow, so usually I do that on Sundays or when my Business M...

a day in the life

1:50am - James wakes up, time to eat. We are both back to bed in less than 30 minutes. Yesssss. 5:10am -   James wakes up, again. Woo hoo! We made it over 3 hours. While nursing, I finish the last of my box of Scooby Snack graham cracker sticks. My Business Man makes fun of me for keeping a snack stash in the nursery, but that hunger in the middle of the night is intense! 6:30am  - James starts to stir... how can he be up again already? I'm hoping he'll go back to sleep. And he does. Unfortunately I don't... so I get up and get a shower while I can. 7:15am  - James is still sleeping so I start on my cupcake list for the day. This week is a little out of control with cupcake orders... (aka I just need to learn to say 'no'. Ha.) I'm a little nervous today, because one of my big orders is picking up at 1pm, and I'm nervous I won't be able to meet the deadline! My Business Man makes me a cup of coffee while I get to work. Love my coffee. And love my B...

back in the swing of things..... hahaha

I guess you could say we are sort in the swing of things... well, we are surviving! I started working a bit last week because CHRISTMAS!! How can you run a cupcake business and not be open at Christmas time?!? Cuddling with Mom on the couch in one of his many Christmas outfits. I filled a few small cupcake orders early last week, and James was a champ! He has been napping really  well during the days. He's on a 2.5-3 hour cycle where he will eat, then have 30-40 minutes of awake time, and then down for a nap for anywhere from 1-2 hours. Then repeat. I have been able to get a LOT done during his naps. (Though sometimes all I want to do is take a nap myself. Ha.) Sometimes I even have to wake him up at the 3 hour mark to eat! Unfortunately, that never happens at night time... Kitchen set-up while James is napping... see the monitor in the very very far left of the picture? To the left of the utensil crock. I usually try to have him nap in his crib; hopefully that will ...

the first two weeks

A certain someone celebrated his 2-week birthday today... how can it be that two weeks have passed in the blink of an eye? But at the same time, it seems like we've had him home with us forever? (Perhaps when you are awake at all hours of the day, it seems like each day has 48 hours instead of 24...) Heading home from the hospital. I don't really have a ton of coherent thoughts, but wanted to jot down what's running through my head so I can look back on it and laugh several months down the road. A little milk drunk after a feeding. The first night home from the hospital was ROUGH. Lol. We had no idea what to expect and I think I woke up once every hour. Either because James needed something, or I just had to stare at him to make sure he was still breathing. (Newsflash to Sara: he will still breathe even when you aren't watching him.) Napping in his big boy crib. He is still sleeping in a bassinet in our room at night. Growing up as an only child, I ha...

happy birthday, James!

Our sweet boy is finally here... let me introduce you to the newest love of our lives, James Benjamin Anderson ! I actually wrote a 40 weeks blog post last Monday, just never got around to posting to Facebook. Who knew that just a few short hours later, I'd be meeting my babe for the first time?! "HI GUYS!!" Here's the (long? short? who knows?) story... if you don't want to read about labor and childbirth, you might want to skip this one. No worries, there will no action shots. ;) Just pics of a cute baby. (And a sleep-deprived mom.) It all started Monday afternoon. I had spent the morning doing one last special cupcake order, and around noon decided I needed something else to keep me busy. I ran some errands to pick up some groceries for a fun meal and some craft supplies to make Christmas ornaments. I felt a few contractions off and on, but they felt the same as the Braxton Hicks contractions I'd been having for the past several weeks, so I ju...
